Es ist ein Ros entsprungen

The title of this blog entry translates as Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming, a popular Christmas hymn for Catholics and Lutherans. Even Brahms once used the original chorale tune as the basis for a chorale fantasy for organ. But this post isn't really about music, or even Christmas songs specifically. I heard this hymn played by a handbell choir recently at a holiday concert and it reminded me that I had been meaning to capture a photo of a rose persistently blooming near the gate to the back yard at the house.

Between recent rain showers, I captured the following image of my Christmas Rose.
