Celebrate Good Times

Thank you all for putting up with a mild amount of celebration over my recent win at the Red, White, and Blue Berry Bake-Off. It was a great experience, I enjoyed sampling other delicious baked goods, and I was happy to be able to share with you all my recipe and the winning recipes of the other contestants. Plus, it was a small-town, patriotic, and delectable event. Who would want to pass that up, right?

Well now it's time to tell you a bit more about the other recent celebration I teased at a week ago – Kipling's first birthday party. There were quite a few dogs in attendance, including our dear Drifter. I'll have to save a bit of those photos for later. Mostly because I need to show you the games we all played and the delicious treats that were consumed, by both canines and humans.

The Birthday Boy

We had a rousing game of Pin the Nose on Kippy, very similar to that usual kid's party game involving a donkey and his tail. It was no surprise that, given Molly's competitive nature, she won, placing the black cotton ball nearest to the nose on the printed poster. Here she is winning.

There were delicious cookies and bones for the dogs to devour, and even party favor toys!

But the best part of the night was the human food. Cheeses, fresh fruit, cured meats, olives, nuts, and plenty of wine to wash it down. And then there was this delicious birthday cake, which the dogs were not fortunate enough to get to sample, no matter how hard they tried.

Stay tuned for some great photos of the other attendees and owners. They're delightful, I promise!
