Tip toe through the tulips

I have to admit that Joe Burke's 1926 song by the same title of this blog entry may be one of the more aggravating and annoying songs I've heard. In topped the charts in 1929 and again in 1968 when Tiny Tim recorded the tune. Despite the fact that my mind wandered to this song, I really want to tell you about my trip to the tulips well before sunrise on Saturday morning.

I arrived at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm, which holds an annual festival to celebrate the growth of their tulips, around 6 am after the 40 minute drive south of Portland. I knew that while the light was good I would be able to capture stunning photos of individual tulips. But I didn't realize that across the tulip field the sun would rise next to Mount Hood, a brilliant way to spend my morning. You'll have to wait to see those photos.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy these shots from just after sunrise of the rows upon rows of colorful tulips.

Endless Rows

Since wandering through a field of tulips is quite a Dutch thing to do, why not make it feel a bit more familiar with a windmill?

How Dutch

Stay tuned for additional photos all week of the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm!
