Drifter's First Snow

The big snow storm recently in Madison got Molly and I thinking about some old and more recent snow memories. It was easy to recall heavy snowfall, scraping ice, and several instances of falling down. I even remember shoveling snow when the landlord couldn't, digging Molly's car out, and wondering if the bus would ever come as the snow continued to fall. Our second winter in Madison saw the snowiest season on record for the Capital City, some 102 inches! And then there were the thoughts about when the snow turns to an ugly brown, when it's still snowing in April, and when it becomes difficult to see outside because the snow has accumulated so much around the windows.

Sitting in the Cold

But my best memories of the snow involve Drifter and his romping through the fields of white. He loved to jump up and down in the feet-deep snow, burying his face and shaking it off. I thought I'd share these photos with you from Drifter's first winter, playing in the park near our first Madison apartment.

  2. Looks like Drifter's been getting into the crack rock a little bit.
