Extended Shopping Weekend

Did anyone go out on Black Friday? Was it madness? I saw some photos from The Today Show via Twitter of massive crowds at Target and Walmart digging through piles of merchandise and waiting in lines like they were about to meet the Pope. In all honesty, I think you would really have to want one specific item to brave that mess. Instead, I slept in, relaxed, and geared up for a busy weekend at Zucchini & Vine.

Being a small business in Downtown Chico, we offer a somewhat different shopping experience. Good music, individualized shopping advice, and usually samples of cheese, mulled apple cider, or French butter accompany a trip to Z&V during the holiday season. Though the weekend was a lot of work, it was also a great deal of fun. Fun to meet people from out of town, find out who customers were shopping for and what they had planned to buy, and doing it all with Molly and her family.

And now this busy shopping weekend is extended online for Cyber Monday. Though online businesses most certainly participate in Black Friday deals, even offering many of them on Thanksgiving morning, they can hope to get even more sales by offering individualized deals on the Monday following. Has anyone heard how well or poorly this works?

I don't know if I'll be shopping online today for Christmas. Not because there isn't good shopping to be had, but because I have no idea what I am supposed to be shopping for yet. However, I have a Cyber Monday sale going on over at my Etsy store. All framed prints (from small to large and less than $50 to almost $200) are 25% off for today only!!! It's a great chance to buy something nice for someone nice (or naughty) this holiday season.

Thanks in advance.
